Mats Rydstern, born in Stockholm in 1952 and educated at HDK and the Valand Academy, is active in Skåne with close ties to the Kullabygden region.
His painting is marked by a strong sensitivity to light, colour and composition, often expressed through still lifes and landscapes. With a restrained Nordic aesthetic and technical precision, he creates works that convey calm and contemplation.
Rydstern also works with graphics and lithography, and his art carries a timeless quality that establishes him as a steady and distinctive voice in contemporary Swedish painting.
